I felt really nervous when I first joined Bannatyne's. I have arthritis and was worried I might find exercising difficult.
I had also gained some weight and don't have much confidence.
I had seen Stephen around the gym and he was always friendly and helpful, and so I asked him to give me some PT sessions.
He developed an exercise plan around my arthritis which reduced the pain. The plan was easy for me to follow and I gained confidence using the gym.
Steve went over my diet and developed an eating plan which was realistic and easy to follow and I lost 2kg. I also noticed a greater definition in my muscles.
Steve is friendly and approachable and I would recommend him to anyone thinking of getting a Personal Trainer.

I have been with Bannantyne’s fitness gyms for the past three years, using the ‘Brindleyplace’ location as my main centre. I had often considered enlisting the services of a personal trainer hand in hand with visiting the gym, but it was only in the autumn/winter of 2019 that I decided to undertake this.
I chose Stephen as he had initially given me an induction to the gym and had always made me feel very welcome and gave helpful advice and tips whenever I was on the site.
The 6 week programme that I undertook was backed up with a discussion on what I was hoping to gain from the sessions, a look at my lifestyle and dietary habits and was regularly updated.
Each hour long session gave me an opportunity to do a wide variety of exercises that were tailored to my objectives. They also took me out of my ‘comfort zone’ of just doing activities that I felt easy to accomplish, and highlighted the importance of correct technique in order to get the most from them.
Stephen was throughout the sessions, friendly and encouraging and I believe brought out the latent qualities that will help me progress even further. He was also quick to realise when I was struggling and the underlying reasons why this was the case.
I do feel more motivated as a result of undertaking this session and realise that commitment and self-belief is as important as effort. I will be undertaking future sessions with Stephen in the very near future. 10/10 as a teacher!

Stephen is a fantastic PT, at the start of 2020 I was feeling very sluggish and didn’t have the motivation to work out. I wasn’t as energetic and I felt like I needed help.
Stephen approached me with a taster session and didn’t guilt me into signing up as you see in most gyms.
At my first session, he went through a detailed health analysis and educated me in aligning specific goals. Feeling accountable and having more knowledge on BMI, fat percentage etc, encouraged me to commit to my plan.
I thoroughly enjoyed all my training sessions where Stephen would also coach me on exercise moves which I wasn’t familiar with. My sessions had a variety of strength training, circuits and cardio.
Although some elements of the training was daunting from a workout perspective, I always left the gym floor feeling proud, motivated and that I worked hard.
Without a PT I would have mainly stuck to one or two machines within the gym but now I have the confidence to lift and continue with a varied workout which will give me results.
Stephen is so flexible and always checked in with me each week. He would commit to training me early mornings on days he wasn’t actually working at the gym. Just shows his professionalism and experience within the industry.
For all my sessions Stephen prepared the workouts in advance and post workout would hand me my plan to train in the week without him. He also checked in with me regarding my nutritional intake, which motivated me to eat healthier during the week.
It’s not easy trying to loose weight, get stronger and fitter but with the right help you can. I hope to continue my fitness journey with Stephen.
If anyone is feeling the same as me, I would 100% recommend Stephen who will get you feeling stronger and positive.

Stephen brought a fresh and dynamic approach to changing my gym routine. He helped me incorporate new elements, such as stretching, kettlebells and free weights, while keeping the workout enjoyable throughout. He was confident and personable, pushing me in the right way at the right times. However, the most important point for me was that he listened and took my responses on board, which helped us to refine my workout further and focus on areas that I enjoyed – in short, it felt like a partnership using Stephen’s expertise and my effort, and not just me doing what Stephen told me. Stephen has been my personal trainer for 6 months now. During that time he has inspired me to continue going to the gym. During our sessions I have the most fun I have ever had at the gym, despite the intense workout he puts me through. He always listens to my concerns, and changes my programme around these. However this does not mean he compromises either the intensity or the impact his routines offer.
He has also constructed a well balanced diet for outside the gym for me, although I am terrible at following it, he always gives me helpful tips and hints to keep me on track and encourages me as much as he can.
Though Bannatynes is an amazing gym, it is not 24hrs and so I find it difficult to get to all the time given my job. Stephen is one of the major reasons I have continued to stay with Bannatynes, and I would recommend his services to anyone.
